Life is quite the adventure, huh? Every single day brings new experiences and opportunities for adventure. Adventure is defined as "an unusual and exciting, typically hazardous, experience or activity." So... if you don't mind me asking, what kind of an adventure are you on? Although you may not really "feel" like you are on an "adventure" in this moment, everyone is on some type of an adventure that requires us to journey along the way as we travel through different seasons of life. Adventures are thrilling, exciting, difficult, and yes, sometimes scary. BUT... always worth it, wouldn't you agree? Because, with every adventure brings experience and from experience comes growth.
Are you confident in your journey regardless of what adventures come your way? Trust me, I know it's hard. It's tough. It's life. BUT... What a life we could live if we truly believed that God is working ALL things for our good and His glory! Yes, ALL things... the good. the bad. the ugly. HE is aware. HE is in control. HE is GOD. Do you trust Him?
Romans 8:28 says, "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose."
I have heard this verse my entire life and heard it preached on many times, BUT if you are asking God A LOT of questions about your journey, click the link below and listen to the sermon preached this past week at our church. So grateful for His Word and how we can KNOW that He is working ALL things for our good and HIS glory.
I was also recently encouraged by the following from Jesus Calling:
"As you become increasingly aware of My Presence, you find it easier to discern the way you should go. This is one of the practical benefits of living close to Me. Instead of wondering about what is on the road ahead or worrying about what you should do if... or when..., you can concentrate on staying in communication with Me. When you actually arrive at a choice-point, I will show you which direction to go.
Many people are so preoccupied with future plans and decisions that they fails to see choices they need to make today. Without any conscious awareness, they make their habitual responses. People who live this way find a dullness creeping into their lives. They sleepwalk through their days, following well-worn paths of routine.
I, the Creator of the universe, am the most creative Being imaginable. I will not leave you circling in deeply rutted paths. Instead, I will lead you along fresh trails of ADVENTURE, revealing to you things you did not know. Stay in communication with Me. Follow My guiding Presence."
In the Old Testament, God commanded Joshua to set up a memorial to remind them and future generations of what God miraculously did for them on the adventure of crossing the Jordan River. In the “Cooper Cottage” kitchen we have a large jar where we write down our different adventures throughout the year. These “adventures” come in quite the variety: surprises, goals met, little things that made a big difference, lol moments, good times, blessings, verses, and “just because" moments. These moments, big and small, are memorials for our little family for the year 2015, and on New Year’s Eve, we will read each one and remember how God has been faithful to us through the good and the bad. Our home, our “Peace Place”, itself is a memorial of something that only God could have done and is full of small reminders of God’s love and faithfulness to us. What memorials do you have in your home or have written down that remind you of God’s love and faithfulness shown to you and your family? Are these reminders discussed with your children and shared with your guests when they visit your “Peace Place”?
We desire nothing more than for God to be glorified in our journey. And although joy is not automatic, as children of God, joy is available to us throughout the journey.
