Snow Cream with Sprinkles

Just like two little kids, Jared and I went to bed the night of March 4th with dreams of waking up to a true "Winter Wonderland". And... Guess what? The weatherman was right! The next morning, we jumped out of bed after noticing the incredible lighting coming through our window. It's that unique glow that only lights up your home after a good snow has arrived. The feeling of "NO school" and a day at home is something that this teacher and true kid at heart has always loved. Although a southern girl, the beauty of the snow is something that I do not think I will ever get over. It literally has always taken my breath away.

This day was not any different as I sat in the chair in our bedroom staring out of our front window taking it all in. Everything was so quiet and still. Then... everything became TOO quiet... TOO still. It was then that my heart ached and longed for squeals and screams of excitement to be heard throughout the house. For coats, socks, gloves, hats, and boots to be thrown on top of pjs in order to get outside as soon as possible. My heart ached for my babies which resulted in a heaviness that almost made it even hard to breathe. Then, three words came to mind and were felt so deep within my spirit: "YOU are faithful". And, almost instantly, God's peace completely overwhelmed me. Tears of heaviness turned into tears of joy, because HE IS Faithful.

Deuteronomy 7:9 "Understand, therefore, that the Lord your God is indeed God. He is the faithful God who keeps his covenant for a thousand generations and lavishes his unfailing love on those who love him and obey his commands."

Deuteronomy 32:4 "The Rock! His work is perfect, For all His ways are just; A God of faithfulness and without injustice, Righteous and upright is He."

Psalm 36:5 "Your unfailing love, O Lord, is as vast as the heavens; your faithfulness reaches beyond the clouds."

Lamentations 3:22-23 "The Lord's lovingkindnesses indeed never cease, For His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness."

2 Timothy 2:13 "If we are unfaithful, He remains faithful, for He cannot deny who He is."

After our morning workout, enjoying waffles and chocolate milk for breakfast (that is why we work out), a stroll around our neighborhood with Charley and our neighbors, worship music filled our "Peace Place" as my hubby and I both had some work to get done. We sat quietly focused on our tasks at hand, both singing along to the music. We all know that he has "The Voice", but I am pretty sure that I could be the next "American Idol", especially later in the day when two of my favorite soundtracks, "Wicked" and "Frozen" were playing. Jared has always told me that I do not simply sing a song, I perform it. It was then time for lunch, and what better way to celebrate a snow day than homemade chocolate chip cookies and snow cream with... SPRINKLES!

The little things make a big difference. Today, those sprinkles were a little thing that made a big difference. They reminded me to appreciate and find joy in the little things... Like a morning that was not TOO quiet or TOO still, but instead QUIET enough for me to hear the Holy Spirit speak truth into my aching heart. STILL enough for me to acknowledge Him and His voice and then, rest and rejoice in His sweet peace.

Our God is faithful. We are currently in the middle of our home study process, and since February 12th, 150 pieces of our 500 piece puzzle have been sponsored! We know that every day is one step closer to bringing our baby home. Because of all of the support and encouragement that we have received, we have continued to be overwhelmed with JOY in this journey. Over 57 families and 9 different states are represented on the puzzle so far, and for that, we are truly grateful. Jared and I were able to end our day working on the puzzle, talking about snow days to come with snow cream and LOTS of sprinkles.

  1. Love this and love you and your heart and your incredible strength and for seeking after Him throughout this journey. We are so similar yet our stories so different. I thought of you yesterday, knowing that days like that can magnify the missing piece of your family. I prayed that the Lord would remind you of his faithfulness as often times when I a missing "that piece" to our family, that is what I cling to. I'm so glad that you have been able to hold onto scripture and trust in Him and his perfect plan. We love you!

p.s. I also prayed that when mini Cooper joins your family that you all will get a good snow day or two to enjoy some snow cream and make special memories
